Welcome! I am the author of Personal Stereo, a cultural history of the Walkman. My writing has appeared in The New York Times, Slate, The Nation, The Cut, the Times Literary Supplement, and The Guardian, among other publications.
I’ve written long-form stories on a misunderstood postpartum mood disorder, on pro-nuclear climate activists, and on Margaret Sanger’s forgotten rival for leadership of the early birth control movement. I also write book reviews, and occasionally do Q&As (here’s an old favorite).
My work has received support from the Robert B. Silvers Foundation and the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability. I live in Southern California with my family. Oh, and it’s pronounced TOO-hoose DOO-brow.
