Welcome! I am a journalist based in Southern California. My writing has appeared in print or online in the New Yorker, the New York Review of Books, the Washington Post, the Times Literary Supplement, and The Guardian, among other publications. I am the author of Personal Stereo, a short cultural history of the Walkman, which was named one of Pitchfork’s favorite music books of 2017. My work has received support from the Robert B. Silvers Foundation and the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability.
My new book, Atomic Dreams: The New Nuclear Evangelists and the Fight for the Future of Energy, will be published in April by Algonquin Books.
